The Other Side of Trump’s Wall

BBC.com

Trump’s wall is a huge mistake dividing America further into chaos. However, there is a greater lesson to be taught to society at large as we observe this debacle. This wall stand-off that led to what turned out to be the longest government shut down in US history, is a gift in disguise showing us everything wrong with politics that we need to know quite perfectly.

Firstly, I have no angle or dog in any political race. Nor do I have a political leaning. Truth be told detached from any party affiliation, the wall is an expensive waste of time and money, and an overall bad idea. And that’s the thing about politics; very often leaders make it all about themselves to some degree. Trump’s squad decided early on to hide the inhumane real reasons the wall is wanted, and morph the erection of a wall into “Trumpian” accomplishment to go after full speed ahead. The problem, however, is that almost every reputable economist and immigration expert agrees that funding a border wall is very ill-conceived. Close to home, I have a relative, also an immigration lawyer, that had an article written about her opinion. She also agrees that the wall is a not a good decision due to the fact that according to statistics, most illegal immigrants enter the country due to overstaying after visits or after visas expire. So, building a huge expensive wall to primarily keep Mexicans from illegal entry, a number that has been decreasing on its own anyway, isn’t exactly the smartest thing to do. Regardless, Trump is forever committed to the wall and consequently shut down the government. He shut down our government not because it’s what America needs, but because he’s playing politics. And that’s just what many ‘politicians’ do. We help them make things all about themselves and we all play along. We do this under mind control, almost with the same enthusiasm as sports. He said it in his campaign and he wants to see it through at our expense, no matter what. The shutdown is a decision for his own legacy and secret agenda, not for the good of the American people. Let that sink in; he shut down our government for it. And this is a lesson in politics on display for all to see.

The Hegelian Dialect at it Again

We see the effects of the Hegelian dialectic play out all day with people bickering on social media. Politics are strategically designed to keep us running in circles as the elite class rules from on high. Liberals are damning the president as usual, and Trump supporters refuse to concede this wall now holding the government hostage was never a good idea to begin with. Trump support has become much like a cult, in which diehard devotees play defense nonstop and stand by everything their king decrees. Many are simply too emotionally attached and defensive of Trump to apply any logic and reason. The opinions of Trump supporters have become useless as they are predictable; echoing whatever Trump says and wanting whatever Trump wants. Most seem to be using their intelligence and most of their energy not toward any progressive thinking, but toward creating clever arguments and defenses for Trump’s decisions, opinions, or unpopular statements. Consequently, they are fighting for the wall too despite a need for it. And I caution everyone not to point fingers and judge them as uniquely foolish; if you’re emotionally part of any social movement or collective, there is a high probability that you’re doing the exact same thing somewhere else.

On this particular issue, I lean toward the liberal side of the argument. There are more efficient, modern and more effective measures that can be implemented to improve border security. And while America fights for or against the building of a wall in an awesome manifestation of Hegelian dialectic politics, the government is shut down and nothing is being done in either direction. Meanwhile, Flint Michigan still doesn’t have clean water.

Breaking Down the Walls of Division

So here we are. This is exactly why I’ve learned to stay out of political mechanisms and I don’t give political affiliations too much of my energy. How did we get into this mess and how do we get out? Stepping out of political mind control in which we align ourselves with sides and teams might help. Firstly, the Democrats need to understand that no, we can’t have people pouring into the country because it will destabilize the country. I have different personal beliefs regarding citizenship that I keep to myself, but I’m speaking from the perspective of the average American citizen who wants good for the country. Caring for migrants once they enter illegally should not be a prioritized concern. It’s a decision they are making at their own risk and exhausting time and resources should not be an added issue for the country to worry about. Many liberals have trouble understanding, yes, there should be deterrents amiss. They should not be welcomed in the droves with open arms because they claim they are seeking asylum. For a small band of people, of course we should, but not for a steady stream of caravans from the same place. However, on the flipside, caging children and gassing people is not a very good idea either. And building a wall is one very big and bad idea. Trump’s toxic rhetoric didn’t help things either. He could have simply spoken about the importance of strengthening the borders–period, which is valid, but he chose the other extreme. He boorishly infused unwarranted racism and attacks against the humanity of the migrants. Instead of addressing a need for border security for the principle, because of his nature he had to lie, exaggerate, instigate divisions and characterize all the migrants as criminals. In doing so Trump proved himself yet again, to be a very divisive, unhinged and dangerous president. The truth is that there is a reasonable middle ground between these wild and wide extremes.

Trump wants a wall and it should have been fought by all people. While we were pulled into a war between societies extreme liberals versus societies racist and xenophobic bigots, you better believe it is to some one’s benefit. There are many other undisclosed reasons why Trump wants the wall so bad. The media just might never mention it. Many unnamed people would monetarily benefit from Trump’s not needed wall and it would also technically produce more jobs that would be credited to Trump. Erected with this wall will be what they are careful not to refer to as jails, as agendas to “detain” migrants will be increased. The steady stream of imprisoned people will benefit corporate entities in ways they’d rather the public not know. And while Trump fights for what he and unnamed cronies want, we are also being distracted from focusing on more important issues. We need to stop buying the political snake oil being sold to us in an endless traveling show that both sides are in on.

As the country is literally and poetically divided over a wall, now is a great time to ponder about the things that cause our societal divisions. Things are best achieved through independent thinking and activism, not subservience to party affiliations or unwavering allegiance to political leaders. This wall of confusion is inadvertently serving as a great teachable moment for society to learn to see over and through the fortified walls of politics.
