Tanzania Suspends COVID-19 Testing After Goat and Fruit Test Positive

Word has spread like wildfire on social media about how President John Magufuli of Tanzania exposed the faultiness of coronavirus testing. The skeptical Magufuli deliberately submitted samples from the pawpaw fruit and a goat, gave them human names and identification, sent them back for testing and they surprisingly came back positive for COVID-19.

The COVID-19 testing kits had been imported from abroad and Magufuli sent security forces to test the quality of the kits.  Tanzania randomly obtained several different non-human samples, including from a pawpaw fruit, and a goat, but had assigned them human names and ages. When the goat and pawpaw came back positive, Magufuli halted testing and exposed that implementing testing would not be wise as it was likely that some of his citizens would test positive when in fact they were not infected by the coronavirus. This has sent shockwaves around the world leaving pharmaceutical entities scrambling toward damage control in the media.

Magufuli said, “There is something happening. I said before we should not accept that every aid is meant to be good for this nation,” He added that the kits should be investigated. COVID-19 infections and fatalities reported across Africa are extremely low compared with the United States, parts of Asia, and Europe. However, this type of faulty testing is sure to spike their numbers if and when more testing begins.

Mainstream media outlets covertly subsidized by pharmaceutical entities scurried and tried their best to explain this. Even Snopes swooped in. Snopes could not in good conscience label the claim false, but they decided to label the claim “unproven” even though President John Magufuli presented the situation very succinctly in a speech that is now going viral. If it were the president of France, Canada, or Australia they might not have posted that, but perhaps they felt it pertinent to still label the claims “unproven” coming from the President of Tanzania. Some outlets even went as far as trying to make President John Magufuli and Tanzania seem unreliable and zany. However, not only is that disrespectful and ill-conceived, this is only manifesting desperation to preserve the integrity of testing procedures.

The virus is definitely real and unfortunately has devasted many people all over the world. However, it cannot be denied that something weird is going on and there are many strange developments with COVID-19.
