Sometimes bad news gets worse as new developments are learned. Sadly we already know Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash and unfortunately, his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Bryant, were among the 9 who died. The helicopter crashed near Calabasas, California close to 10 AM local time on the morning of January 26, 2020. Bryant was 41 years old.
Kobe was a shining star who was born in Philadelphia, PA and became one of the youngest players in the NBA being drafted right out of High School at 17 years old. He spent his illustrious 2-decade long career with the Lakers retiring in 2016 as a 5-time NBA champion. He also retired with the incredible distinction as the all-time leading scorer for the franchise.
Kobe and his daughter Giana are survived by his wife Vanessa and other 3 daughters, Natalia (17), Bianka (3), and Capri Kobe born last June.
Kobe is most likely a shoo-in for the next Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame class.
As the investigation into the crash is still ongoing, an outpouring of condolences and remembrance is already spilling out over social media honoring a true legend of the sport.
