Many liberal legacy media outlets are keeping the heat on Joe Rogan going strong. One of the latest hit pieces from the Huffington Post and other MSM platforms exposed that Rogan was talking about something on his podcast as fact, that he didn’t verify before he talked about it. The hypocrisy amiss, however, is that legacy media spreads falsehoods all the time with reckless abandon, and almost never corrects itself. Many of these platforms routinely call many lies the truth if the government or powerful corporate entities say it is so. So the blatant hypocrisy and irony with these hit pieces is that Rogan at least checking himself in real-time, is far more than many MSM platforms would ever do.
Many corporate entities that own mainstream media outlets loathe Joe Rogan primarily because his podcast exposed in many instances, that much of the information told to us by legacy media isn’t true or reliable. And primarily in the age of COVID, platforms like Rogan’s and countless others exposed that many mainstream platforms were bought off by Big Pharma and committed to false narratives. What Joe Rogan single-handledly did to the credibility of CNN alone, and its top doctor, Sanjay Gupta, was one for the ages. Consequently, many mainstream platforms are seizing every opportunity to return fire.
Rogan in the Hot Seat
Joe Rogan was lambasted for spreading a conspiracy theory that Australia was in the early stages of criminalizing independent farming. When he looked to confirm the information live on his podcast, he couldn’t find a mainstream publication to corroborate the story. He then admitted the story could be fake.
There’s a lot to unpack, however. Firstly, in the age we are now in on a global scale, not finding something in a mainstream source does not make it not true. We are in an entirely new playing field these days in which corruption, censorship, and corporate covert maneuvering are at an all-time high. So Joe Rogan’s fumbling for a source live on air was not a good look, but it should be noted that he has a podcast, not a news station.
So where did Rogan get this idea from? This particular conspiracy theory about the Australian government preventing citizens from doing their own farming came from an eruption of interpretations of the Agriculture Legislation Amendment Bill 2022. Through this Bill, more regulations have been placed on the farming industry for safety. Consequently, half-cocked claims that Australia was trying to stop people from doing their own farming went viral.
Unpacking The Truth
What mainstream platforms have to learn is that they’re helplessly stuck in their old ways. Much of legacy media’s old schemes and tricks aren’t working anymore, and the obsession with Joe Rogan is a waste of time. It isn’t about one man, Joe Rogan, it’s about the truth. Scores of people do not trust legacy media anymore, and with good reason. Rogan is merely one of several platforms causing a paradigm shift. Legacy media is obsessed with Rogan primarily because it is threatened by his popularity and ability to share information more readily. So if there is a corporate narrative being protected, there “lies” a big problem.
Legacy media platforms are nervous because they no longer have the only microphone. That said, the “conspiracy theory” about Australia whether true or false is not as zany as lots of mainstream platforms would like us to believe. Although there is no language in the bill that explicitly exposes an agenda to prevent private citizens from farming, the suspicion that more regulation being implemented in the guise of safety has a more ominous covert agenda is totally justified. In fact, that is likely. Often when more rules and regulations are introduced it is not necessarily for the health and well-being of citizens. The powers that be merely want their citizens to believe that. All throughout history a pattern of using safety to increase government power over citizens is very conspicuous and well known. Regardless, a fastly awakening society is learning that if there was some sort of conspiracy amiss, legacy media would most probably not expose it. Rather, it’s the covert job of legacy media subsidized by corporate entities to say “nothing to see here” and lull the public back to sleep.
Rogan is far from perfect. For example, his resurrected shockingly racist comments were very myopic and cringeworthy. Another example of problematic discussion is when he covered the documentary “Leaving Neverland”. Rogan was very wise to admit he didn’t watch it and he remained respectful and impartial. His guests, however, were extremely ignorant and just talked as though the details in the movie were fact. We now know much of the details in the film were exposed and debunked as lies.
From time to time, the trajectory of conversation in Rogan’s podcast depends on the guests he invites. So there were definitely times in which Rogan’s podcast wasn’t exactly a bastion of truth. Regardless, love him or hate him, his honesty and willingness to have an open dialogue that sometimes lands him in hot water is part of the appeal. And many times he does get it right because he allows people, including many qualified professionals in myriad fields to speak freely, and he asks questions many people ponder themselves. Emotions aside, his format is more effective and informative than MSM, and they hate that. And in the age of COVID, he slowly started to stand out front as more reliable, informative, and engaging than MSM.
The truth?: Even as Rogan seemed to fumble live on his podcast, his live attempt at verification is a far more noble gesture than just reciting talking points handed to him.
