In a recent interview with pageSix.com, famed Comedian, Bill Cosby recently expressed his thoughts on his recent sexual assault trial, in which he was found guilty on three counts of sexual assault against plaintiff, Andrea Constand at his Philadelphia home in 2004.
In a trial which has polarized the public, though was met with a one-sided anti-Cosby slant by the media, the nature of casual sex and what constitutes consent has been called into question in what has been dubbed by the media as the “#metoo” era.
In an article in written by reporter, Stacy Brown, in which she dubs the attempts of Cosby’s lawyers to prove his innocence as “squawking”, Cosby spoke with the C-list publication at his home.
“When they send me to that place, I want you to be there to tell my story because it seems no one is listening, no one wants the real story,” Cosby is reported to have said to the publication, in what many may consider a heartfelt and stern assertion of his innocence.
Cosby seemed to expressed as have had faith in the justice system, and that his innocence would be admonished by the jury.
When speaking of a plea deal offered by the commonwealth, he is reported to have said: “When there was talk of a plea bargain, I said no,” Cosby told Page Six last year. “I just refused to plead guilty to something that just didn’t happen. It didn’t happen, and Andrea knows that, and I think [prosecutors] know that.”
The deal would have excluded Cosby from time in prison, though he would have to register as a sex offender.
Cosby went on to hint at the possibility of judicial persecution. “Why take a deal?” he said. “Not when they want me to say that I’m a sex offender. I didn’t do what they said I did.”
80 year old Cosby, who is blind, faces a maximum of thirty years in prison and will be sentence 75 days after trial, most likely sometime during late summer.
